Great coaching doesn’t end when the session does; it sticks with the athlete, shapes how they train on their own, and ultimately drives long-term improvement.

One of the simplest, yet most powerful tools I’ve built into my routine using CoachNow happens in the last 5 to 10 minutes of every session. I flip the camera around and ask the athlete a single question:

“Tell me—in your own words—what did you learn today?”

A simple habit that delivers massive results.

When athletes explain what they’ve learned, they own it.

Instead of passively receiving feedback, they’re now reflecting, summarizing, and actively processing what happened during the session. That shift creates deep, lasting understanding.

Capturing your question and their reply in a short video adds a whole new layer of depth to your clips.

This practice not only aids in immediate understanding but also in long-term retention. You add a dimension of how they felt during a key learning moment, which they can relive every time they watch the video.

It also gives you, as the coach, something invaluable: insight into their comprehension.

If what they say matches what I was trying to teach, I know the message landed.

If it doesn’t? I’ve got a golden opportunity to correct it, before they leave and start practicing something incorrectly.

Because they have documentation on what was covered, they’re also less likely to need additional guidance from you during the week.

Along with increasing athletes’ comprehension, this practice completely changes how I manage my time.

I’m doing all the coaching and documentation inside the session. That means I don’t have to go home, try to recall what we did, and spend extra unpaid hours following up. It’s a classic case of working smarter, not harder.

Here's a real-world example of me putting this into practice with an athlete during a training session:

CoachNow isn’t just a tool for posting swing videos or sending drills.

It’s a digital journal that’s a living, breathing archive of an athlete’s journey.

When athletes go back and watch themselves reflect in their own words, it resonates more than anything I could write for them. It reinforces lessons, boosts confidence, and helps them track growth over time.

It feels GOOD to learn something new or improve your technique during a live session. Capturing an athlete’s successes, helping them internalize the why behind it all, and posting it in their Space will remind them of that “aha moment”.

And from a coaching business perspective, CoachNow’s features make it easier than ever to have visible proof of progress, built-in accountability, and a way to stand out from the crowd.

When you’re using CoachNow, try carving out a few minutes at the end of each session to ask your athletes to reflect. You’ll be amazed at what comes out, both for them and for you.

At the end of the day, it’s about more than just coaching. It’s about saving time and building empowered athletes, all while building a lasting digital record of their journey.
