70% of kids quit playing sports before High School.
There seems to be a little confusion when it comes to youth sports and the behavior of parents, when it’s directed at the athletes and the officials. Much of our youth sports should be aimed at teaching the fundamentals, encouraging play and building relationships.
For those parents involving their children in after school, weekend, rec leagues and general youth sports, they should be focused on ensuring a nurturing, educational, and fun environment for their child. Kids should be taught to respect the coach, the officials, the rules and each other. They should feel safe, they should celebrate each point, they should cheer for one another.
